Clinic & Hospital Interior Design

Thoughtful spaces for care.

Plan healthcare spaces around the people who use them and the work that happens within them. Archspace develops clinic and hospital interior briefs with patient arrival, staff workflows, room functions and specialist coordination considered together.

Clinics

Clinic interiors, organised around your practice.

A clinic brief starts with its specialty, consultation model, equipment and patient flow. Discuss reception, waiting, consulting and treatment rooms as connected spaces, with privacy, storage and day-to-day maintenance considered from the outset.

  • Plan arrival, seating and circulation around the practice's expected use.
  • Coordinate consulting and treatment-room layouts with the clinician's requirements and equipment information.
  • Review storage, staff areas, lighting and finishes against the agreed operational brief.

Hospitals

Hospital interiors, with clear project boundaries.

Hospital spaces need a coordinated brief across clinical, operational and engineering teams. Define the departments and areas in scope first, whether the project concerns reception and waiting areas, consultation spaces, patient rooms or a wider interior package.

  • Map the areas being fitted out and how they connect to the functioning facility.
  • Discuss patient, staff, service and equipment movement with the hospital team.
  • Coordinate interior decisions with clinical requirements, specialist engineering and the site's approval process.

Your project brief

Confirm the requirements before the finishes.

Clinical suitability is not established by appearance alone. The healthcare team and relevant specialists must define and review room functions, equipment, hygiene requirements and building services before the interior scope is finalised.

  • Identify who supplies, reviews and signs off each technical requirement.
  • Assess proposed materials and details against the facility's cleaning and maintenance protocols.
  • Agree safe access, work separation and phasing for projects within operating facilities.

Before we begin

Your questions, answered.

Can I enquire about a single clinic or consulting suite?

Yes. Share the specialty, floor plan, rooms required and available equipment details. The initial discussion can focus on the layout, patient experience and interior scope for that practice.

How does a hospital interior brief differ from a clinic brief?

A hospital may involve more departments, complex circulation and a larger specialist team. The proposed areas, technical dependencies and review responsibilities need to be defined before design and execution are agreed.

Do the interiors come with healthcare accreditation?

No accreditation is implied. Any applicable standards, certification goals or authority approvals must be identified with the healthcare team and relevant specialists, with responsibilities documented in the scope.

Can you plan work in an operating healthcare facility?

A phased brief can be discussed, subject to the facility team's requirements and a site-specific assessment. Clinical continuity, access, separation of work areas and specialist dependencies must guide the plan.

Project scope and specialist coordination
  • Clinical planning, specialist engineering, medical equipment and statutory responsibilities must be expressly assigned and coordinated in the project scope.
  • Operating theatres, medical gases, specialised ventilation, imaging protection and other critical systems require suitably qualified specialist input; they are not implied by a general interior-design package.
  • No accreditation, certification, infection-control outcome or regulatory approval is promised by this page. Requirements and approvals are assessed for the specific facility.
